It is not that my interest has faded, but time has become a factor. The world has been changing rapidly. The way we obtain information is evolving and new opportunities arise for those of us dedicated in the pro-life movement.

In addition to our private and communal prayers, our meetings, marches, and other activism, as well as support for pregnancy centers and maternity homes, let us be reminded that we are often “fixing what is broken.” What is broken is the structure of our nuclear families and respect for the life and dignity of our neighbors. If we do not respect the lives of unborn children, we should not be surprised at the murder of our children in schools and violence in the streets of our cities.
So, be reminded of the work of LifeFirst https://lifefirst.org/ which has grown to have significant and far-reaching impact in educating our youth. And, support Abortion Survivors Network … a group formed by and for those people born after a botched abortion https://abortionsurvivors.org/ They educate the public and legislators across the country that the growing entity in the mother is a real person whose dignity is not diminished by being small and unborn.
I developed this web site and wrote my book Building a Culture of Life as the pandemic unfolded. I am a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic men’s fraternal organization. Jesus commanded that we love one another, so the basis of our faith and the driving principles of the Knights of Columbus is to fulfill that commandment by protecting the life and dignity of all persons from conception to natural death, and we do that through our fundraising efforts and donations to charities that can provide that direct care to people in need.
In 2020 I was the Life Director for my local council, responsible for overseeing opportunities to participate in pro-life events. In 2022 I was asked to be the Culture of Life Director for the Archdiocese. The world is divided into dioceses and Texas has 15 dioceses, the largest population in mine, the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. This appointment gave me the opportunity to work with 125 councils, 28 pregnancy centers and 6 maternity homes to ensure support and place ultrasound machines where needed. In my 4 year tenure, we have placed 13 ultrasound machines.
Going into fiscal 2025-2026 (July 1–June 30), my council elected me to be Deputy Grand Knight, a position similar to vice-president (the “president” is called Grand Knight). It was not a position that I sought, but an unexpected need arose, so I accepted. That has been more work than I thought, because there has been a lot to learn. After 1 more year in this role, I will become Grand Knight and have responsibility to lead the council. Therefore, as we enter the new fiscal year on July 1, I have appointed a new council Life Director and created a team to work with him.
The State of Texas also has a council… the Texas State Council… with the top leadership position called State Deputy. On July 1, there will be a new team leading the State Council. The new State Deputy has created a position for me to become the Culture of Life Director for the State Council. The national authority of the Knights of Columbus is called the Supreme Council. Both the Supreme council and the State Council have Life programs, and it will be my duty to encourage and facilitate those programs, ensure support for pregnancy centers and maternity homes in Texas, and to help with placement of ultrasound machines where needed.
I am working on another book that I hope to be published within a year or so Creation, Evolution, Causality, and Faith: Science, Philosophy, and Metaphysics for the Layperson. At the same time, my book Building a Culture of Life, published in 2021, has become quite outdated with overturn of Roe v Wade and the Dobbs decision in 2022… not to mention subsequent attacks on the family structure and the rise of euthanasia. So, in the more distant future, I hope to edit a 2nd edition.
As one can see, there will probably not be much time to post information here, although I may still do so from time to time. I encourage you to sign up for LifeNews so you know what is going on nationally and internationally. Become familiar with the work of LifeFirst and Abortion Survivors Network; sign up their newsletters. Provide financial support when you can. I know Melissa Ohden (from the beginning when she founded Abortion Survivors Network) and I know Teresa Strack (from the beginnings of the founding of LifeFirst).
